Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to Tuesday´s surf report from Santana beach. Last night we had some light rains through the whole night, so this morning the water was glassy and fun.

There were little peaks showing up all along the beach, which meant there were waves for everyone… when I took this photo there were 3 more peaks breaking to the right at the same time, and on each one a surfer having fun.

A lot of the times those peaks were A-framing, and so many went unridden.

By land or by sea? Right or left?

First peak was shy and kinda mushy but that didn’t stop some of the locals to practice the drop and some turns.

and of course, also some airs!

Second peak was working better, throwing some good long lefts.

As usual, to the center of the beach the best ones were rights, long little walls waiting to get shredded.

And on the far north, a couple of guys patiently waited for those rights to show up.

I´m going to take the time to talk about the trip I did two weeks ago on the Rio Grande de Matagalpa… with a group of friends from Texas and Colorado (US) we did a Stand Up Paddleboard expedition through the Miskito Indians territory on the east side of Nicaragua. For you to get an idea of where we were, please google La Cruz de Rio Grande, that was our starting point. And after 5 days of paddling (and with some help from a boat) we made it to the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. Follow our adventure on Instagram with #ExpeditionSupNicaragua #SupNica

Once in a while a big set appeared on the horizon and most of the time nobody was ready for them… this guy was one of the lucky ones that was in the right spot when this set showed up.

Can you tell the rainy season just started? Everything is green and beautiful! Looks like tomorrow we´ll have a little more size so, come back tomorrow to check it out.
