Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, May 07, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to another week full of waves here in Nicaragua. The waves are not as big as a lot of surfers would like, but for sure they are as fun as everyone like. Check it out!

I got to Santana right at high tide, this is not precisely the best time but the waves were opening very well both ways.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is an unknown surfer enjoying first peak, looks fun, right?

Javier Baldovinos

I’m pretty sure he was having a great time with those lefts.

Javier Baldovinos

Another happy camper going nuts on this right.

Javier Baldovinos

There were many hollow waves for those who only have fun inside the barrel… but they were hard to catch.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is the nemesis of many of us… a late vertical drop that usually comes right before a nice barrel (not the case on this one though).

Javier Baldovinos

This grom was ripping all morning, catching everything that came close to him.

Javier Baldovinos

And he was ripping on every one of them!

Javier Baldovinos

If you have been surfing Santana the last few days, you have probably seen Mike on his quad going back and forth carrying a big bucket… here he is on his 1,000th trip getting rocks for his new garden.

Javier Baldovinos

The local crew showed up right on time for the tide to start going down, which usually means the waves will start getting better.

Javier Baldovinos

High tide or mid tide, the waves looked good to me the whole time.

Javier Baldovinos

In the middle of the beach the waves were doing their thing too, check out this guy about to take this nice right… the left looks also good too.

Javier Baldovinos

He finished the wave with a really good floater and top it off with an air drop over the falls. Perfect execution.

Javier Baldovinos

This kid had a similar floater but on a left. Another perfect execution too!

Javier Baldovinos

Now we fast forward to the late afternoon… my neighbor Eric and I, instead of going surfing ourselves, we decided to invest in our future… we took the kids for a sunset session.

Javier Baldovinos

Dilan (7) and Mateo (about to turn 5) have been surfing for the last 3 days and they are loving it! (and us dads too!)

Javier Baldovinos

We’ve been guiding them which waves to take, how to paddle, how to move around with the boards, etc, and the most important thing… that surfing is super fun!

Javier Baldovinos

Surfing is so much fun that you can even party while surfing, especially if you go with your friends side by side.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is Dilan enjoying surfing by himself.

Javier Baldovinos

And here comes Mateo right after.

Javier Baldovinos

That’s it for today NSR fans. Big shakas for everyone!
