Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, May 05, 2017

Carl NSR

Hola and welcome to another Nicaragua Surf Report. Well it's officual, rainy season is here, inaugerated with a proper early morning downpour, lightening and thunder show. The weather had backed off to a light drizzle when we showed up to the beach and the offershore winds held. Waves had backed off to  the shoulder to head high range and the period has dropped significantly from yesterday.

Though it looks wintry out there the water is a balmy 80 and with conditions like this locals and visitors alike weren't scared off by a little rain.

It's been a great run of swell this past week or so and while this is looking like a down day there is still plenty of energy out there.

While getting a little inclement weather is a bit of a bummer for those visiting from cold and rainy locales and just looking for sun, the locals are loving the beginning of "nica winter". It's way easier to surf all day when you aren't getting roasted by the equatorial sunshine.

Lesther Espinoza is a mainstay in this lineup and if he isn't getting spit out of deep shacks you know he is setting up for some big hacks.

Everyone was loving the glassy, playful conditions out this morning. It was one of those rare days at this break where bottom turns and multiple manouvers were the rule of the day.

Every once in a while a little bomb would pop up on the outside. And the guy lucky enough to be in position reaps the rewards.

Get some, buddy!

Rainy Days like this are a perfect time to stroll down and hang with your favorite beach bar tender. What's up Mago!!
