Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, May 02, 2010

The rain finally dried up, the sun finally came out and the winds, although not offshore, remained light for most of the day.  It was actually one of the funnest days we've had in a while so nobody was really complaining.  Here's a shot of the line-up looking down towards Panga bowl.  We had peaky, overhead sets today with variable to light winds and overcast skies.  Crowds are light and there were some waves to be had.  Check it out...

We're going to open things up with a killer "Jacksonville Cutback" by this unknown Pale Rider who may or may not actually be from J-ville.  This is what you do when your buddy is hanging out on the shoulder of your wave, watching what you are going to do.  Shot 1, the set up.

Shot 2 - SMACKDOWN!  Now stay off my shoulder next time!

We actually spent the weekend up at our Iguana office and we hosted a real estate mixer after the golf tourney.  Free booze, ping-pong and killer real estate deals - what else could you ask for!  Diego (the excited one) was stoked to be there!  Make sure you stop by and say "hello" whenever you are in the area.

Here's a shot of the local groms, headed out to catch a few before work.  (that's a joke, everybody knows we don't work on Sunday!)

If you looked around enough, the shifty peaks would give up the goods.  Here's another unknown Pale Rider, about to get into the green room.  Shot 1.

Shot 2, squeaking in underneath the lip

Shot 3, perfect position (check out that fun little nugget - there were waves like this all over the place today)

Shot 4, this is when you know your getting "shacked"

Shot 5, yeah, that's a complete cover-up

Shot 6, and none of it matters if you don't come out!

Shot 7, textbook form leads to a clean exit.  Nice work man!  Let us know if you want some high-res copies for your Facebook!

It started raining about a week ago and believe me, we've had some INSANE downpours but I'm always amazed at how fast things turn from brown and crusty to green and lush.  On the way to the beach this morning, I looked over and everything looked alive again.  Rainy season is back!

This guy laid down a man-sized schwack on the shoulder of this wave.  Yeah, it's not offshore, but how fun does this one look?

I thought this was a cool angle looking down the beach at the "Panga Bowl".  Most people consider this a softer wave but you can see that it was standing up nicely today.

OK, that's all for today.  If you come by the shop at Iguana, you'll most likely run into Gretchen who's been keeping things running smoothly during our first couple of weeks.  Thanks Gretchen!  We've got more waves on tap for the rest of the week and winds are supposed to clock back to normal.  Be sure to check back with us.  Pancho Out!
