Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Welcome! This is Baldo bringing you the one and only Nicaragua Surf Report. Today´s report is dedicated to our friend John Gillem, a daily follower that cannot live without us… as he puts it, we are his “Life Line” until he comes back to Nicaragua. Raise your hands for John!

I started the day at Colorado, the wind was side shore and strong. There were just 4 guys in the water trying to catch the messy waves.

There was not much room to play. The few good ones that came through disappeared on the shoulders leaving enough room for one, maybe two small turns.

I´m really bad remembering names but I´m good with faces… Here is Vana Tacos guy but can´t remember his name. I actually had lunch there today, a really good chicken burrito that filled me enough to go to the next spot looking for better waves.

I went back to my home break Santana. By this time the wind was softer and the waves were good (better than what I saw at Colorado). As usual, all the action was at first peak. Look at that wedge!

Javier Baldovinos

It was not barreling but it had a solid wall for good turns and big sprays.

Javier Baldovinos

There were only two guys catching the right, which was not as big as the ones at first peak but definitely they were way longer!

Javier Baldovinos

When I say “all the action was at first peak”, I mean there were a group of people kinda partying right on the rocks, drinking and dancing while taking photos of their friends in the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

And of course… there is no party without a selfie.

This guy was doing some serious moves in the water. The spray, the floater and a great landing after.

Javier Baldovinos

Left or right? This guy knows exactly where to go.

The local Darwin Jácamo was the other guy surfing the long right in the middle of the beach. Here he is working on his speed before going for a big air. He didn´t land it.

This girl was checking the surf comfortably from the pool right across the sand bar.

Javier Baldovinos

And this is the view she had from that spot. Not too bad, right?

Javier Baldovinos

For all the non-surfers out there… there is always a good book to keep you company while we go surfing :)
Check out tomorrow, looks like it´s going to be a little bit smaller but that´s ok, there is a big swell around the corner!
