Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, April 16, 2017

Brian Scott

Happy Easter everyone and welcome back for the Sunday surf report!! We have waves!! We’re supposed to be getting some new swell arriving tomorrow, but I think we may have some front runners… Keep scrolling forward to see what I’m talking about!

When I got the beach earlier this morning, there weren’t too many people out (I think a lot of people had too much of a good time last night and the last couple of days with Semana Santa) but the ones who persevered and showed up got their Easter nuggets early today, like this lucky kid!

I’m not kidding the crowds were thin, but nothing’s stopping these two from having any fun.

Mike Haskell came out with his fish this morning, he said it was working so good on a recent trip to he took to Tavarua. “That thing was flying down the line at Restaurants” he recalled. Looks like it’s flying here too Mike. But I bet you were more stoked on going frontside as apposed to cranking that thing off the bottom here.. The waves today were super fast!

A few more surfers were finally making it out. The tide was dropping quick and the swell itself seemed a little sleepy and inconsistent but it’s ok everyone’s still waking up.

Looking back up the beach to our reef break. You can always gauge when our swells arrive by looking here. This place is always bigger than everywhere else. Check out them offshores! The wind was really up today.

The lefts on this sandbar were the place to be. Straight up drainers… not all of them were makable, but if you were lucky you could find one of those nugs that gave you that dream view. Like Scott who’s visiting from Australia is getting here.

The swell really wanted to show up, but I saw waves like this, this morning…

… and then I saw plenty like this. Tomorrow and the next couple of days should be firing!!!

Fun low tide barrels. It’s what’s for breakfast.

Brian Scott

I’d call it about chest to head high today?? What do you think?

TR made it out this morning. I know he likes to keep it pretty tranquillo so he can be on it early in the AM’s. That’s how you gotta do it when you’re a seasoned professional photographer like him. Up and at it, like the early bird that gets the worm!

Colin Eberly was finding all kinds of gems down on that left hand sand bar all morning. He also happened to be down playing on the playa with his family all morning too. Making time for all things wonderful on this Easter Sunday!

If they only new what was grinding away right behind them.

I got so enthralled with the waves this morning, I almost completely missed the huge Sunday Easter family get together at Casa Maderas after the church service that was held at out Community Center. Luckily my good friend Stacey Springfield was there to catch some of the action I missed (thank you stacey for the pics from the Easter piñata bash). I just want to say how truly awesome it is that we have such a great community of friends and family here; and it continues to grow each year. Look at all these cute little Niños!!

Like little Lorenzo J here, who also happens to be the little one of our other esteemed photographer and friend Javier “Baldo” Baldovinos. Someone is having a really fun Easter Sunday, can you tell?

Brian Scott

A great community indeed we have here! Thanks ladies and gents for stopping by on your Easter Sunday to check out what we had for todays festivities and beach action moments. Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend and we look forward to seeing you back this week where we’re supposed to have some even better swell!! Stay tuned…!
