Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, April 12, 2022

Brian Scott

t’s that time for your Tuesday dose of surf… had a long day, but ended up making it down for the PM session at the reef. Winds were bonkers blowing sideways, so the waves were a bit mixed up, but there’s definitely some good swell in the water!

Saw a few growlers way down the beach at Colorados. From what I could see, there were a few heads out, but I think PD’s was the call and it was kinda nice to mix it up for a a change.

One of the cleaner and more nicer looking set waves sweeping through over the reef.

But a lot of these waves had some teeth and thick heaving lips that they were dishing out to everyone giving it a run out there this late afternoon.

Big Rob, laying down one pretty sooth and stylish turn after he out ran that detonating section that just wanted to eat him alive! Sick one buddy!!!

Kai was sitting in his own little inside zone, waiting patiently as there were mostly all closeouts where he was on the northern peak way inside. But he’s got a lot of natural talent and knows how to pick and choose his waves, wisely.

Brian Scott

Most people (for one) wouldn’t even want anything to do with this kind of wave he was surfing.

Secondly, I think most people would have fallen, got blown up by the foam ball or just bailed or straightened out with how gnarly these hard pounding waves were braking over the sand bottom that’s about as hard as concrete….. also, it’s super shallow right there too!

Brian Scott

Annnnnd this is what Kai does on just about any wave he sees coming out the back, paddles out super hard just in time to meet it with perfection, turns around and gets into these things like nothing, and pumps and drives for as long as these waves will keep rolling through with plenty of wiggle room for him inside to do his thing while being completely covered up for about 3/4’s of the wave…. and you can pretty much always count on seeing this at the end of each wave! BOOOOOM, Ya Kai!!!!!!

The Summer time is gradually switching back to our winter, so the sun is setting behind the old Cliff of the Dogs. I think maybe mañana I’m gonna switch it back over to Colorados since there’s really good well in water and hopefully, that’s HOPEFULLY, the morning will be a little less windy early in the AM. I hope to see ya out there ~
