Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, March 28, 2010

Hi everybody, we are the NSR family bringing you one more time all the action for this Sunday surf report.  Today we went to the beach in the morning trying to score some really fun waves.  The waves were fun, running head high to a little bigger on sets with nice offshore winds.  The line-up was uncrowded and the water was nice and warm.  Check out the lineup!!!

Today Lucha got hired by a couple of nice guys from France.  They don’t get to surf very often but today they decided to do the best and gave it a try.  Here we have this cool shot of the crew keeping a good memory.

Here we have one of the guys bottom turning a real nice wave.  By the end of the day we got some new knowledge on his backside style.

Sometimes it very nice to travel with you girl, because you get to share lots of good experiences together.  In the other hand, if you want to get crazy a little bit when you are traveling, all you have to do it’s to make another trip but down to the paradise.

The rabbit was all smiles, eating carrots all day long.  At least he is strong enough to fight the currents and the few waves he got out there.

The Semana Santa is almost here and we already had a couple of ladies lying down on the beach, trying to get a nice tan.  Watch out beautiful lady, do not burn yourself out because it could be bad by the end of the week.

Today we are going to start with this unknown surfer, he was ripping all over the place.  Check him ripping on top of this little nugget.

Here we have our very good friend Darwin, he was catching some really nice waves.  Check him out with this cool bottom turn on this beautiful left hander.  This wave may look double-overhead on Darwin, but remember he's only about 4 feet tall - It's a head high wave for everybody else.

A bunch of locals jumped out in the water today and were having a blast all morning long.  This is Mario busting a nice frontside aerial move.  For those of you who know Mario, he's surfing better than ever now.

We had some nice waves rolling in this morning at the first peak and this guy sat up in the right spot to catch some of the better ones.  What a nice looking drop dude!!!

While Lucha was out taking surf photos today, the rest of the NSR team volunteered their time and helped teach the Barrio Planta kids how to surf.  This is the second time we've done this for Barrio Planta and it's definitely a fun time.  The project gives local San Juan Del Sur kids something productive to do with their time after school and on the weekends.  Activities include English classes, Arts and Crafts, Drama class, Sports programs, etc.  A couple of times a year, the kids with perfect attendance get rewarded with a "beach day" - with Surfing as the main attraction.  This time there were approx. 30 kids who made the trip - and they all had a blast!  (so did we).  Check out some of the photos!

Here we have Heather “Hace Quesos” she was taking some girls and giving surf lessons all morning.  With an equal number of girls and boys in attendance, it was especially nice to have some good female role models volunteering their time.  It showed because the girls were all fighting to get a turn with Heather.  Here is one of her happy students.

Our very own Carlos Caliente doesn't miss a chance to give back to the community and enjoyed his time out there today.  Here he is, dropping some serious knowledge on one of the many students he had today.

We were stoked to bring Luis Chamorro, former Nicaraguan National Surf Champion, out with us.  He had a blast and the kids really looked up to him.  Nothing better than a surfing champ teaching you how to surf!

DLite made it out as well and utilized every ounce of his teaching skills to get these kids standing.  He went 4 for 4...and had a blast doing it.  This girl came soooooo close to running me over on this one!

In between surf lessons, the kids had access to boogie boards.  The whole day was a big hit and we'd like to thank Barrio Planta and everybody who helped out and made today a success.  We can't wait to do it again!

On the last shot of the day we have these guys come back home after the long surf session.  Aright folks this is all for today.  We hope to have some fun waves tomorrow.  Please check back with us!
