Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, March 26, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to another week of waves, sun, beach and wind in Nicaragua. The waves are small but fun, but the wind is still a little bit strong.

Javier Baldovinos

Today is the beginning of Semana Santa (Easter Week), little by little the beach will start getting busier with people from different parts of Nicaragua, trying to escape from the heat of the cities to relax and refresh in the (cold) waters of the Pacific Ocean.

There were already a few families playing on the beach, kids jumping up and down, throwing sand and running around their parents non–stop.

Javier Baldovinos

Of course, the local kids were doing the same thing but with their surfboards in the waves.

Little bars and restaurants (mostly bars) are popping up along the beach, getting ready for the vacationers for the next few days.

Javier Baldovinos

This is the main place at the beach, they have music all afternoon and probably all night… I haven’t come out at night yet (and probably won't) but if you are around come check it out!

Looks like there is another coming up here. Interesting photo: 5 guys and a lady… only 1 guy with a hammer doing something, 4 guys “helping”, and the lady at a safe distance supervising the job.

Javier Baldovinos

Back in the water, there were small A-frame peaks with nobody around.

Javier Baldovinos

Only 4 surfers in the water but only 1 guy catching all the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

If you are lucky enough you can buy your fresh dinner right at the beach… this lady is posing for a photo after buying a few lobsters directly from the diver coming out of the water. Buen Provecho!

Javier Baldovinos

It was high tide when I was taking photos, and once in a while there was a big back wash in the water that, in combination with the strong offshore, created this massive splashes that went high in the air.

Javier Baldovinos

Did I mentioned the strong winds? It’s great to see people coming to the beach prepared for the sun with their big umbrellas… little do they know that they actually don’t work here! Kudos for trying though!

Javier Baldovinos

As you can see, mostly the lefts were working today… they were steeper and longer than the rights.

Javier Baldovinos

Look at that face, you can do whatever you want there… go vertical or gain some more speed to pass that section in front.

Javier Baldovinos

This is another wave, same surfer… this time he went for a floater.

Javier Baldovinos

Looks like there will be a new swell by the end of the week starting on Thursday, couldn’t be a better way to celebrate Semana Santa than with good waves! Saludos!
