Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, March 20, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Happy Monday everyone! I´m Baldo reporting from Santana beach. This morning the waves looked like they had a great weekend because they were kinda small and shy, and the overcast sky didn´t help much with the mood.

Javier Baldovinos

The water was cold and the offshore wind strong, but that didn´t stop the waves to break with a good shape whenever they appear. Here is one of the few good waves at first peak that came through.

Javier Baldovinos

The right was working a lot better… it had some long, fast (and sometimes hollow), rides way more often than the other peaks.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is the right on a better angle. You just had to pick the right shoulder to go all the way on a nice ride.

Javier Baldovinos

There were not that many waves that broke both ways so, of course, everybody wanted to get on a right and it got kinda crazy out there.

Javier Baldovinos

And by saying “kinda crazy”, I mean that a few surfers in the water didn´t know nothing about the ethics of surfing, dropping in occasionally into somebody else´s wave creating some “love” demonstrations in the water.

Javier Baldovinos

Craziness took place and we started seen some funny behaviors among the surfers… like this guy practicing a one hand stand break dance move on his surfboard.

Javier Baldovinos

Or like Jan practicing his Michael Jackson moves on this little right.

Javier Baldovinos

How about the girl that took too serious what people say about surfing and yoga, that they go well together… first cobra pose, then plank and finishing with pigeon pose… on the same wave! (I would like to thank Google Images for helping me figure out the names of the poses)

Javier Baldovinos

Forget about the craziness, the important thing is that there were some really good waves every so often and you had to be alert and ready.

Javier Baldovinos

… Ready to crouch under the lip and get on a nice little barrel, like this guy.

Javier Baldovinos

That´s it for today. Come back tomorrow to see another great day of surfing in Nicaragua. Saludos!
