Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, March 12, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, happy Monday to all of you! Check out today’s surf report from Santana beach, for sure it was a happy Monday for us!

Javier Baldovinos

I went to the beach early in the morning expecting to find a bunch of people but when I got there I realized that today it was a very small tide so they waves were barely starting to have some shape.

Javier Baldovinos

There were just 3 people in the water at that time. Here is one of them on a nice little left.

Here is another guy going really fast on a nice right.

Little by little there were more people showing up, as you can see, the water temperature is still cold and most of the surfers are using some sort of wetsuit.

When I was about to leave our friend Donald showed up, he just turned 60 years last week… and he still surfs better than a lot of the locals and foreigners that live in the area… when I grow up I want to be like him! Happy Birthday Guru!!

Javier Baldovinos

I went back to the beach 5 hours later to see if I could take a few more photos for our audience, this is what I found… around 8 surfers in the water and long flat periods of waiting.

But when the sets showed up the waves turned out to be very good.

Javier Baldovinos

Turned out to be bigger and better than in the morning!

Andrew is visiting for a few days and he was excited (like everyone else) to have good waves peeling off to the left.

We usually see Gerald behind the camera taking photos at Popoyo (mainly), but today the waves were so good (comparing them to the last few weeks) that he left the camera at home and paddled out.

Here goes Andrew again pumping through this section at full speed.

First peak was breaking once in a while, the waiting there was longer than the rest of the beach.

Javier Baldovinos

Chris was out too, as always catching only the best waves and shredding every little piece of them.

Chris going vertical on this little left corner.

The waves will go a little bit smaller for 2 or 3 days but then a little bump is coming our way hopefully with more good waves. Stay tune!
