Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, March 06, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, this is Baldo from playa Jiquelite, a.k.a. Santana beach. I hope everybody is having a good Monday just as the waves we had this morning.

Javier Baldovinos

The strong offshore winds are back which means the water got cold (at least for us) again, and making it hard for everyone to enjoy the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

One of the good things about the strong offshore winds it´s that whatever you do on the face of the wave, it creates this huge curtain of water behind it, making you look like a pro! It wasn’t the case for this guy, he was throwing enough water by itself without the help of the winds.

Javier Baldovinos

First peak was kinda tricky today. There were a few people there but the wind made it hard to catch. Sooo many waves went unridden, it was a shame.

Javier Baldovinos

The other peaks were throwing good lefts and rights but closing out on the sets.

The local Mario Martínez showed up late but, no matter what time he comes, he always catches the best waves and makes the best turns.

Javier Baldovinos

Here it is Mario again going vertical on a nice right. He knows this right so well that he could probably catch it and surf it blindfolded without any problems.

Javier Baldovinos

Talking about rights… take a look at this beauty! It looked like it was going to be the barrel of the day but because of the wind the wave never barreled. Next time buddy, you almost got it.

Javier Baldovinos

Here is an unknown rider having fun on a nice left.

Javier Baldovinos

There were some serious gusts of wind coming every once in a while… so strong that it blew the surfer out of his board when he was trying to do an air, he landed a few meters behind the wave.

Javier Baldovinos

On the smaller waves there was room to practice the turns with technique and style.

Javier Baldovinos

And Mario has been improving his style over the years, just look at him on this one.

Javier Baldovinos

That´s it for today. Come back tomorrow to see another great day of surfing in Nicaragua. Saludos!
