Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, February 25, 2021

Brian Scott

Welcome back for the Thursday surf report. A lot like yesterday, or I should say Tuesday since I was off yesterday and Baldo was at the helm. But it was almost a carbon copy with the howling offshore winds and very tough to find any surfers that would take the bait in these brutal offshore conditions.

Brian Scott

Lucky for me, I spotted Liam (pictured) and his mom on the way out to try and catch some of these fast moving mini trains with eyeball blinding saltwater whipping you in your face on takeoffs, it’s no wonder why not many people wanted much to do with todays waves, even though they looked super fun!

Brian Scott

Pulled back, this looks like it could be Newps, Blackies, or even up the road in the Orange curtain on a nice warm summers day. Minus bout 100 people. Jajajaja

Brian Scott

But them offshores, have Nicaragua written ALL OVER THEM!!! You can’t mistake our offshore winds very easily!!

Brian Scott

To greet and be greeted, I think all three of us were stoked to see each other out there, in a weird, but funny - glad someones seeing my waves kind of a way!

Brian Scott

Liam going left, which is probably the BEST thing to do when you’re surfing these waves with winds this hairball out there.

Brian Scott

Maria’s up next….

Brian Scott

Not easy to go right into these devil winds! But she made the drop and continued her little journey down the line like she lives here or something???

Brian Scott

Ohhh ya, she does…. that’s right!!! haha

Brian Scott

This place can actually handle these winds really well… it’s the lack of swell that’s messing it all up.

Brian Scott

With these Papagayo winds, and if there were actually swell in the double to maybe even triple over head surf…. this place would just turn on and be complete MAGIC!

Brian Scott

You see the winds would hold up those giant heaving A-frames and you would in return have huge city bus sized caverns to pull into….. that is if you have the nerves of steel to paddle out there on a day like that! I’ve seen days like this… and I hope we have some of that coming very soon in the next month or two hopefully!!!!

Brian Scott

Until then, it’s warm, it’s really really windy and there are a bit of some closeouts.

Brian Scott

Like this…. but it’s better to take your beatings now, while you have time to focus on your breathing and staying calm while it’s not that critical….. YET!!!!

Brian Scott

Time to call it a day. Thank you Maria and Liam for the short but sweet surf sesh!!! Gave me some good content and you also had the lineup and the entire surf report all to yourselves!!!!   Dale pues ~
