Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, February 22, 2013

Hola amigos, this is Lucha Libre Garcia with the first day of Pitayas Quiksilver Surf Contest at Playa Hermosa.  The waves picked up a little bit and actually we had some fun ones to be taken.  Chest high waves on the bigger sets, quite strong offshore winds and cold water.  Check it out!!!

We started the day with the Open division right around 9:25 am and all the guys were putting a nice show out there.  Lester El Kikito Espinoza is caught here with a cool little floater.

La Gaviota Chamorro was surfing very well today, getting some nice combos to stay in the run in the main event.  Cool backside maneuver on this beautiful left.

But the man of the day was La Bestia Calderon, throwing some nice hacks on his backside and some sweet aerials as well.  To me this was the move of the day, he landed it for sure!

A few international dudes  are on the run for a sick $$$$$$ prize.  Osiris El Pelon with a cool frontside maneuver on his big panga.

Faces of the day, Sean Pearson, Luis Chamorro, Augusto Chamorro and Federico Pilurzo from Costa Rica.

Carlitos Perez made it out and he was ripping all over.  Sliding the tail off the side!

Party is on, the day was getting hotter and hotter and the Toñas arrived right on time!  Who want some?

Crew Santana showed up and they were having a blast.  Digan Queso chabalos!

A few rippers from Costa Rica made the trip and they know how to surf these kinda of waves.  Isaac Vega going big with a nice 360s air.

If you don't like Toña in a very, very rare case taking a refreshing shower was a good way to cool off.  Ahhhhhhhhh!!!

Or maybe there was a better way to cool off.  Yeahhhh, an ice cold bottle of water on your,,,,,,,,,,!

The day kept going with the 18s and 16s division and as expected El Chelito Jackson was showing off.  Beautiful off the top on this peeler.

The surf contest got supplemented with a super fun voleyball competition, where players from all over Nicaragua were doing their best to put up a nice show.  Way to go boys!

Last action shot of the day, hoping to have better conditions tomorrow.  Fingers crossed!

Buyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
