Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, February 20, 2017

Hola everybody!  Eric here with your Monday surf report from some lovely beach-break in Nicaragua!  What a great round of swell we had the past days!  Looks like it is finally coming to a close as the waves are quite a bit smaller today!  Still some fun ones coming in, check out the action!

Our friend, Jackson Obando, was out there shredding the small waves! I think from what I’ve seen, this guy might take the title of best local surfer his age in the area!

The ocean looked so inviting today that I decided to take some water shots as well! Grant was out there soaking up some salt and enjoying the leftover waves!

I’ve seen this nice lady around and she’s been getting some good waves out here! Finally captured a shot of her having some fun in the ocean!

There was almost no crowd by the time I took the camera into the water… I saw Lesther working on the beach and we decided to go get a few mini barrel shots!

Katie has been getting better at surfing the hollow waves that the beach offers! Don’t worry chica, you don’t kook it on all the waves!

Jackson has a mean air game! I saw him huck a few big backside airs!

The sun really is extreme in the afternoon here. The ocean is a desert but she offers up some shade in hard to reach places! Grant knows where to find it!

Young Josh Springfield was getting in on the action in the late morning! He had a nice frontside barrel on this little lefty!

Somehow, our amigo Grant couldn’t find his way out of this wide open mini cave! He managed his way in for a little view though!

Oscarcito wouldn’t paddle back out with me when I grabbed the water housing… I guess he had already gotten his fill of perfect mini tubes!

The water is beautiful right now, It’s cool enough to chill you down from the heat of the beach! Perfect, glassy waves make it even more enjoyable!

The waves are there if you want some salt in your hair my friends! We’re going to sign off for today, I’ll be here again tomorrow with another update of what’s happening down at the beach! Thanks for tuning in with us here at NSR! Ciao for now amigos!

Welcome to another week of great waves in Nicaragua! This is Baldo reporting from Santana beach. Waves are great today… check out this beauty, if you look closer there is a guy getting barreled right there.

Javier Baldovinos

February is considered low season which means no crowds but there are plenty of good waves! This is the same peak from a different angle.

Javier Baldovinos

Santana, being a fast hollow wave, attracts a lot of bodyboarders from all over the world. This guy was doing some crazy maneuvers down the line.

Javier Baldovinos

This wave is known for its wedgie peaks and vertical take offs, it takes a few wipe outs to get the feeling of it… he got totally smashed on this one.

Javier Baldovinos

This time the guy made the drop and was able to get some cover under the lip, the guy on the red board can testify that.

Javier Baldovinos

On the beach there were different families with their kids, some kids playing on the rocks, or on the sand, others with boogie boards or just enjoying the water.

Javier Baldovinos

There was this “older” kid enjoying the water the right way… standing on a surfboard!

Javier Baldovinos

Of course, what is Santana without the local surfers, which they know this wave perfectly and they were getting all the best ones.

Javier Baldovinos

This guy was killing it, getting barreled and then doing some serious damaged on the face of the waves.

Javier Baldovinos

This poor girl broke her leash on a nice set wave… NSR Surf Shop at Hacienda Iguana has a good selection of leashes and all the surf gear needed, go check it out!

Javier Baldovinos

There were some fun lefts for the regular footers to enjoy.

Javier Baldovinos

Right time at the right place, there is nothing like the local knowledge.

It´s time for lunch so, don´t work too much and come spend some time with us on your next vacation. See ya!
