NSR

Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, February 17, 2011

First at all we want everybody to know that today we had the first SUP Board contest ever in Nicaragua.  It was a very successful tournament where 13 guys did the best to win it.  We have to say that the conditions were very rough but everybody charged.  Here is a shot of the scene on the beach!

Carlitos Caliente drove down this morning to be part of this huge event and he successfully made it.  After paddling and stroking for 6 miles around a couple spots in San Juan del Sur this is exactly how he felt when he got to the shore.  I think we might need some water, don’t you think so?

13 guys and galss started the contest and only 6 made it back.  After the whole event was done these were the finalists.

1st Pl Daniel from Germany
2nd Oliver “El Monito” Solis
3rd Carl “Carlitos Caliente” NSR

Thanks to the Pitaya Festival organizers and Pau Hana restaurant for putting this event together.  Just one more thing, if you want to have your own paddle board remember that NSR have available some of these sick boards for sale.

If you're in town on Saturday be sure to head to El Carezal for what has become Nicaragua's premiere annual musical event.

Let’s take it to the surf now.  Our buddy D-lite is back with the best surf school in town, so Jonathan and Sophia took advantage on that and made it out.

Jonathan and Sophia did pretty well, taking fun waves all over the place.  Here is Sophia with a solid stand up on this little nugget all the way in.

A couple of cute ladies made it to the beach and they were taking advantage of the sunny and beautiful day we had.  Since you guys voted to have more Bikinis shots on, we got this one for you today.  These girls were from Polka and they were very friendly.

Oliver went to get a couple waves this afternoon and he was shredding.  We don’t know what the hell he is doing to resist being out there after being paddling 6 miles.

We have a couple shots sent in by our very good friend Mike from Nica Waves at Ppopoyo.  The waves were super fun up there and here are these shots to prove it.  Check out Manuel with this killer off the lip.

There were a couple of small but fun barrels to get.  Unknown sponger with a nice one.

The last shot goes to Donald Stone with a pretty cool slash.  Thanks so much for sending in these pics mike and keep up the good work.  The waves are supposed to pick up a little bit tomorrow and we expect so because we’ll have the Surf Contest at Playa Hermosa.  Stop by and check it out!

Hola D-liteeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
