Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, February 10, 2008

Welcome to the sunday surf report, this is Jairo "Come Pan Panic" reporting out here at Maderas. It's knee to waist high on set, the wind is strong offshore and the water still feels cold. Check it out.

This time of year the winds (offshore) are very strong - sometimes too strong.  This morning around 10 am we saw a bunch of smoke billowing down on the bayfront.  Several locals were claiming that SJDS was BURNING!  By the time we got down there, it was too late - one of the Rancho's on the beach has been completely burned to the ground, leaving only the foundation and a pile of smoldering ashes.  Evidently, there was a short in a nearby electrical wire and the wind blew the sparks into the palm, thatched roof.  You can imagine the combustible combination that made.  These beachside ranchos are only used for big parties during Semana Santa and el Ano Nuevo so fortunately, it was unoccupied during the burn and nobody was injured.  ...Big news for us though!

This is Pancho Sanches paddled out with a big panga today. Here he is riding a small but sweet left.

Another guy was so much fun out there was Carlos Caliente. Here he is showing us his skill on the big panga.

This is Norwing "El Pecaminoso" Estrella, this guy was surfing very well today. Here he is with a nice shot.

Here is Pancho Sanches again sharing this good one with Dave "El Moreno". These guys were so much fun out there.

This is the last shot of the day. Please check back tomorrow.
