Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, February 05, 2018

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to another week of surfing in Nicaragua. Today the waves were a little bit bigger and way better in shape.

The wind is still strong creating a big water curtain behind each wave. This boogieboarder was having a great time today, mainly catching the rights.

On my way to the beach I stopped to see this brick “factory”. These guys are mixing dirt, manure and straw with their feet and shovels until it turns into a muddy paste.

Then they put (by hand) the mixture into these molds to create the shape of a brick, 6 bricks at a time.

Javier Baldovinos

They let them dry for around 3 days in the sun. Then using a sharp machete (of course, what else?) they finish the rough sides and lumps from the bricks until they all have straight lines and smooth surfaces.

Javier Baldovinos

And this is the oven where they cook the bricks… it holds 2800 bricks. The finish brick ready to use for construction cost C$6 Córdobas each. Around 10 people working through the whole process.

Going back to the surf… waves were pumping comparing to the last few weeks… everyone was excited with the rights.

And the lefts too of course!

A few beginners were practicing on the sand. This guy was showing the girl how to stand up before paddle out.

Javier Baldovinos

Yep, she has a great form, she is ready to go and catch all the waves she wants.

Javier Baldovinos

And she did! I Didn’t I say she had a great form? Now she just needs to work on the wave selection.

A couple of longboarders were out too. This guy had a great smooth style, looked very chill on each ride.

Javier Baldovinos

This other guy had a softtop, he was catching all the waves that came near him.

Javier Baldovinos

He was definitely having a great time with his yellow board.

The vibe at the beach was cool. People coming in and out of the waves, people watching the surf, people chatting and walking all along the beach.

Come stay with us in one of the houses we manage in Rancho Santana, bring your family and friends, and I promise everyone will have a great time!
