Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, January 28, 2021

Brian Scott

Hola and happy Thursday ummmmm, I mean, make that super mega windy Thursday that is! Today the winds were the strongest yet (I think?) and it will get even more windy with wind gusts up to 40 mph +, so today was a good indicator for what we have to look forward to for the next couple of month. Lots of wind which mean kicked up polvo (dust), then comes with it the pica. Little pieces that shed off of a certain local tree this time of year (think of it kinda like a dandelion) but its little particles are so small you can’t see them, but when they get on your skin, it feels like little needles all over and itches like crazy…. so JOY to that! haha So Welcome and come on in.. I have some really nice scenery photos for you to look at since (spoiler alert) not one single surfer I saw out surfing there today.

Brian Scott

Like I said, it was a beautiful gorgeous day, but with all that wind in your ears, you would never tell in this photo how loud and noisy it was just with the howling offshore winds.

Brian Scott

Nobody up at the North end of the beach… so let’s go check somewhere else.

Brian Scott

Here’s looking at Panga Drops right in front. Way too much wind. Can you believe that. There’s waves, but it was just too windy for anyone to want to go get blinded by 30mph wind gusts of sea salt into their eyeballs! Good call, I say!

Brian Scott

Oh man, if this were anywhere else, as in where people would die for tropical warm water and peeling clean waves like this. I’m sure you’d be out there right? Where is everyone???

Brian Scott

Getting pretty bored, so I had an idea to go and get maybe one last snap of this surf camp, hotel, all inclusive beach setup place (if you’ve stayed here you would know) the ever Iconic “Mark & Daves” has officially ended their long standing run as one of the longest running surf boutique style all inclusive on the beach hotel in Nicaragua (a very popular I might add) with a lot of really big names (in surfing and from the Hollywood side of A listers all the way down) have stayed at this icon joint! Sad to see it come to an end….. but like all things in life, it’s a new time for a new chapter.

Brian Scott

Mark and Dave’s has been a Nicaraguan surfing institution for over a decade. From it's beachfront location at Playa Colorado the small boutique all-inclusive surf resort has treated hundreds to their first surfing experience in Nicaragua and ensured it was a positive one. Their attention to detail and stellar service helped all who came fall in love with the country. As of today the business has been sold and this little gem on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua will be reinvented.

The new incarnation of this beautiful property will be Oneness whose mission is: to create life & health span-lengthening living sanctuaries where the power of mother earth and thousands of years of knowledge promote happiness, compassion, abundance and infinite health for ourselves, our collaborators, the community and our customers. The new owner/operator team are long time members of the community and we wish them success in their effort to make a positive impact.

If you feel you may have missed an opportunity to own a beach front business in the area, you have not. Check the link in our bio for our newest commercial listing.

Not a very big fan of giving up. I tried again for the third time of the day with hopes for that magical PM session that I can almost always count on.

Brian Scott

Much to my expectation….. I figured it would be a wash of a day for surfing but knew I had some really nice (like I said earlier) scenic photos for you all today!

Brian Scott

Making my way following the light and the last bit of sunlight of the day, I caught one lone surfer at the very last light with a few sun gazers in the foreground enjoying the last rays of the day with some nice cold refreshing beverages.

Brian Scott

To say it was a good day, would be how Like to look at it every day here. The sun was shining, I have my health, and to see this as a farewell to todays magical bliss…. yes, indeed it was a very good day!
