Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, January 26, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, this is Baldo reporting for the second time from beautiful Santana beach. Waves were a little messy but, as always, there were plenty of good ones, you just had to wait for them.

Javier Baldovinos

As soon as I arrived to the beach I saw this wave coming on first peak, bouncing of the reef and creating this perfect barrel which the local charger Junior Martínez rode it seamless and effortless.

Javier Baldovinos

The whole sequence of Junior´s barrel is like 20 photos… this is photo #9 getting deep. By far the best wave of the day!

Javier Baldovinos

First peak was not the only peak working, the northern side was full of good, fast waves too.

Javier Baldovinos

The dry season is starting to settle and that means plenty of sun, really hot sun… and Mario Martínez (Junior´s older brother) knows exactly what to do, always looking for some shade under the lip.

Javier Baldovinos

Who needs sunblock when you have a natural protection just waiting to be used?

Javier Baldovinos

Here is another good one of first peak, and another local (didn´t recognize him) getting some shade.

Javier Baldovinos

Even though the sun was strong, it didn´t stop these girls to have a great time. They had food, drinks and music coming from their old Toyota while watching their boyfriends killing it.

Javier Baldovinos

And watching Mario too, of course!

Javier Baldovinos

My plan is to get to surf this wave a lot, hopefully sooner than later I´ll learn to position myself in the right spot and figure it out just like this guy.

Javier Baldovinos

After a long day of good waves it´s time to get a Toña, relax and get ready for tomorrow´s new barrels. Hasta mañana!
