Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, January 10, 2021

Brian Scott

Howdy Surf report fans and Welcome to Sunday’s Jan day 10 of our daily reporting brought directly from the emerald coast of Nicaragua.

Brian Scott

If you can’t really notice much from this photo, but today was more about the fish that it really was about the waves. Well, the waves did play a pretty good role in churning up all the water bringing all this fish to the surf for all those super hungry pelicans.

Brian Scott

Ahhhhh a surfer….!!! Well, one in the making, right? I was SOOOOO hoping his name was Forest, though! haha

Brian Scott

There were actually a handful of tardy surfers who made the last light paddle out. It was looking super gloomy and (for me at least) it was pretty chilly out there. really cool breeze and stiff offshores…. and a hundred frothing pelicans to compete with.

Devon getting the behind the scenes angle while I grab the what looked to ALMOST be a little barrel cover up that just didn’t want to happen. Maybe next time!

Brian Scott

Small waves (as it looks here) but there’s always something to surf. It was actually pretty peaky this evening.

Brian Scott

A couple empty ones rolling through unridden.

Nobody wanted to go sit on the pelicans. I say go sit all over them. They were totally in the SPOT! Who knows, maybe they could see some “Bigger” fish on the reef that everyone else couldn’t see?????

Brian Scott

Devon taking one of the best waves, although there was a right that one of the oher guys out there got that was seriously about the length of a football field, easily, but it was a right and I was on the other side the peak. But it seriously was the longest wave I saw of the day!

Brian Scott

Oh, it doesn’t matter the day, but the Panga paddle back out is always never as easy and or fun as the Colorados even on a big day with lots of current.

Brian Scott

Or worse, that feeling when you paddle as hard as you can, only to realize you paddled almost half the way in just to miss the rolling peak that tricked you into paddling so far in, and then you get to turn around and realize you get to take the next bigger set wave on the head. FUN!!!! Jaja

The light was dimming so quickly tonight with all the funky cloud coverage my photo session literally felt like one big blur while I waited patiently for some fun surf action to capture.

This is the result of what happens when you pack it up and leave before the sun has even come close to the horizon line and said to yourself, I think I’ve got enough for somewhat of a little something to make a report out of. Then I realized it might just be good to try tracking over to the pull up spot, only to find maybe one of the most spectacle sunsets I’ve seen for sure in 2021, but maybe even all of 2020 too! Tonights sunset was completely on fire and the colors were more surreal than you can even describe in words. Not to mention the insane rainbow looking back toward the mountains in the East.

Brian Scott

The finale of a weird weather timed surf session turned out to be one for the most epic sunsets I’ve seen in all 8 years living here!!! Such a magical place this here Nica-Land ~
