Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, January 10, 2019

Javier Baldovinos

Hello NSR followers from around the world, welcome to Thursday's surf report. Today I decided to go check out our other wave magnet of the area, the famous Popoyo, check it out!

Javier Baldovinos

Popoyo is consistent as Panga Drops, there are always good waves here, breaking to the left as well as to the right.

Javier Baldovinos

With this conditions, 2-3 feet max, the right at Popoyo is great for beginners too.

Javier Baldovinos

You just have to be careful with the spontaneous party waves that once in a while appear here.

Javier Baldovinos

Somehow most of the surfers were going for the rights today, which is kinda weird because Popoyo is known for its long lefts.

Javier Baldovinos

Even though the rights are usually fat and slow, if you ride it long enough you can finish the wave with a good vertical maneuver.

Javier Baldovinos

Now-a-days, there are surfers that prefer staying on the far north, surfing the left that comes out from that shallow reef... it looks fun!

Javier Baldovinos

Check out Outer Reef, breaking perfectly all by itself... any takers?

Javier Baldovinos

Our old friend, one of the original NSR photographers, the famous Jairo "Come Pan" Ramos (@jairo_ramos_photo) is visiting us and of course, he went out yesterday to take some photos at Panga Drops, check out some of his photos from the water.

Javier Baldovinos

With years of experience taking photos for the Surf Report for over 4 years, Jairo developed a great eye for surfing photos.

Javier Baldovinos

He captures the perfection of a great powerful maneuver on one shot.

Javier Baldovinos

Also all the details of a good aerial.

Javier Baldovinos

How about capturing the adrenaline rush of a late drop?

Javier Baldovinos

Come Pan really enjoys been in the water sharing waves with everyone.

Javier Baldovinos

Either when it's serious stuff...

Javier Baldovinos

Or when it's all about laughing with friends... hey Elsi, how is it going??

Javier Baldovinos

And of course, Jairo also likes the peaceful, empty waves on a colorful sunset.

Javier Baldovinos

Don't forget to follow Jairo "Come Pan" Ramos on Instagram @jairo_ramos_photo. Jairo will be in Nicaragua until Tuesday so if you see him in the water, say Hi and let him take some really nice photos of you!

Cheers everyone!!
