Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, January 03, 2010

Hey folks and welcome to the Sunday surf report from NSR.  Well, we are into January now and despite the recent swell, we are back to our typical wave pattern - small waves and strong offshore winds.  Today was no exception with chest high waves and moderate to strong offshores.  In days like these it's best to pull out a killer longboard and take what mother nature gives you.  Here's a cool shot of our new friend Tom, walking back to the NSR Beach House after today's morning sesh.  Nice Board Tom!  ( ...It's one of our rentals)

Here's a line-up shot from today.  Like I said, nothing to write home about, but fun enough if you grab the right one.  Maybe the best part about today was the crowd - nobody at all!

Today was a great day for surf lessons and our main man D-Lite was dropping knowledge on a couple of new NSR Surf School students.  This is Hugo and Sarah from NYC going through the beach instruction portion of the class.

This is NOT one of D-Lite's students, taking the lip to the face on this fast right-hander.

Everybody knows that if you take a class with D-Lite, you are guaranteed to stand up.  This IS one of D-Lite's students, Sarah, making it look easy out there.

We all know that selecting the right wave is more than half the battle.  A good surf instructor like D-Lite can really help you to identify and catch the right waves.  Judging from this shot, he's also willing to put himself in the line of fire for the sake of his students.

Today was an epic beach day and Safari was out there playing in the water and running in the sand.  Here's a cool shot of her looking cuter than ever in her long-sleeved, pink rashy.

This is Hugo from England by way of NYC - taking his cues from D-Lite and working on his backside style.

Alright, that's a wrap for today.  Waves look to be about the same for the next couple of days so we'll be doing the best we can to survive.  Check back to see if we come up with anything worthwhile!
